General Admission Applications are due January 1, 2025.

Students must accept or deny their placement in the Meredith College DI in writing via email by March 15, 2025.

General Admission Qualification requirements include:

Completion of an ACEND-accredited DPD Program (with a valid DPD Verification Statement dated 2018 or after) OR currently enrolled in an ACEND-accredited DPD program with plans to complete by August 2025. The DPD Verification Statement must be submitted before the applicant can begin the internship.

In addition, applicants must

  1. Have a DPD GPA and overall GPA of 3.0 or greater out of 4.0, with a grade of C or higher in all DPD science and DPD professional courses
  2. Submit a completed application packet via SLATE
  3. Write a personal statement (letter format, 1000 word maximum)
    Questions to be addressed in the personal statement include:
    • Why are you interested in Meredith College?
    • Why are you interested in this internship pathway?
    • Why do you want to enter the dietetics profession?
    • Discuss experiences that have helped to prepare you for your career.
    • What are your short-term and long-term goals?
    • What are your strengths and weaknesses or areas needing improvement?
  1. Upload SLATE Application
  2. Transcript(s)
    • Official transcript(s) from all colleges and universities attended can be uploaded to SLATE.
  3. DPD Course List or Verification Statement
    • A DPD Course List or valid Verification Statement from an ACEND-accredited DPD must be submitted before the applicant can begin the internship.
  4. Recommendations
    • Three recommendation letters, one from the DPD or Advisor, one from a professor, and one from a professor or supervisor (RDN) preferred.
  5. Application fee
    • A non-refundable application fee of $60 (you will be prompted 1-2 days after you submit your application in SLATE).  The application fee can be waived if you attend a Meredith College Dietetic Internship Open House.
  6. TOEFL scores, for international students only (can be waived if student earned degree in U.S.)
  7. Additional information
    • Failure to maintain academic and graduation requirements will compromise Internship placement.
    • Incomplete application packets will not be considered.
    • GRE scores may be submitted but are not required.
    • Applicants will be notified on or before March 1, 2025.
    • Students selected through the General admission process are accepted into the Meredith College Dietetic Internship for the year immediately after completing their DPD requirements. If your DPD verification statement is > 7 years old, please contact the DI Director to discuss your application.
    • Students will be required to complete and pass a urine drug screen and background check prior to beginning the program.
    • Applicants will be notified on or before March 1, 2025.
  8. Applications are evaluated based on the following criteria:
    • Overall and DPD GPA, grades for coursework in the professional area, sciences, behavioral and social sciences, and communication courses
    • Quality of recommendation letters
    • Quality of personal statement
    • Quality and quantity of work and volunteer experience in the field
    • Other extracurricular and volunteer activities, leadership, and honors/awards
