A: When you apply to Meredith, our Registrar’s Office will complete an Official Transfer Credit Evaluation to ensure that you receive the maximum credit hours when you transfer. If you are admitted to Meredith, you will receive a copy of this evaluation with your acceptance letter. If you are transferring to Meredith from an accredited four-year institution or a community college outside of North Carolina, our Registrar’s Office will review all courses that have been completed with a grade of C or better for transferable credit. If you are transferring to Meredith from a North Carolina Community College, many of the general education designated courses offered at Meredith have equivalents at North Carolina Community Colleges. Successful completion of individual courses on this list will fulfill the associated Meredith general education requirement. We have also created degree pathways between Meredith College and Associate of Arts (AA) and Associate of Science (AS) programs at North Carolina Community Colleges.

Yes. Meredith considers all admitted transfer students for Merit Scholarships ranging from $10,000 to $15,000 per year (Spring 2025 and Fall 2025 Entry). We also award $5,000 annual scholarships to admitted transfer students who have been inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society and submit documentation of their induction with their application for admission.

Meredith requires all first- and second-year students to live on campus unless they plan to live at home with a parent/spouse within a commutable distance to campus. Students requesting to live off campus are required to submit the Off Campus Housing Request Form with their application for admission.
Meredith is a supportive and welcoming community to all students – whether you enter directly from high school or as a student transferring in from another institution to finish your degree. You’ll receive personal academic advising with experienced advisors through the Office of Academic Advising and will be connected with your faculty advisor once you submit your enrollment deposit. You are eligible to become a resident in one of our spacious residence halls, or if you’re an upper-level student, in our on-campus apartments, The Oaks. If you plan to be a commuter student, we offer you numerous special services, including a commuter meal plan and a commuter association made up of other students who live off campus. You will attend New Student Orientation to make important connections with other incoming transfer students, current students, and faculty advisors, participate in the Honor Code ceremony, and learn about important campus resources. You are encouraged to participate in clubs, organizations, events, and traditions of your interest.
Yes. We strongly encourage all interested students to visit campus. It really is the single best way to not only gain the practical information you need but to also determine if the “fit” feels right. We offer individualized campus visits Monday – Friday at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. While you’re on campus, you will meet with your admissions counselor, tour campus with a current student, and sit in on a class or meet with a faculty member in a program area of your interest when classes are in session. We offer small group information sessions for transfer students as well throughout the fall and spring terms.
