Meredith College is a signatory school on articulation agreements with the North Carolina Community College System. These agreements makes it easier for students to complete four-year degrees at Meredith.

Associate of Arts or Associate of Science

Students who complete the Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree at a North Carolina Community College enter Meredith College as juniors. In addition to guaranteed transfer of all eligible credit hours, these students are eligible for additional need-based financial aid, and register early with the junior class. Students who are in Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society for two-year colleges, and at least 30 hours of transfer credit, are eligible to receive Meredith’s Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship, an annual award of $5,000. Upon completion of the AA or AS degree at a North Carolina community college, all general education requirements for a BA or BS degree at Meredith College are considered met with the possible exception of the foreign language and health and physical learning requirements.

Associate of Fine Arts

Transfer students enrolling at Meredith College may enter under the Articulation Agreement with North Carolina Community Colleges for AFA degrees in the area of fine arts, theatre, or music. To receive the benefit of the articulation agreement, incoming students must meet performance based requirements as determined by the relevant department’s performance standard.

Upon completion of the AFA degree in Art, Music, or Theatre at a North Carolina community college, all general education requirements for the B.A. at Meredith College are considered met with the exception of the foreign language and health and physical learning requirements.

Teacher Education/Educator Preparation Articulation Agreement

Students at North Carolina Community Colleges who want to become teachers can seamlessly transfer to Meredith College to complete a bachelor’s degree. The articulation agreement provides a pathway for future teachers in which the credits from the associate degree of art or associate degree of science transfer to Meredith’s teacher education program.

Meredith undergraduate students interested in teaching complete a liberal arts major in the field of their choice and, at the same time, pursue a teaching license by completing a teacher education program in the Department of Education.

Psychology and Sociology

Meredith College has an articulation agreement for students studying psychology or sociology at North Carolina Community Colleges. This agreement provides a progression degree plan for students who want to pursue a four-year degree in one of these disciplines that includes required general education and prerequisite courses that will transfer to Meredith College.

Transferring from an NC Community College

Students transferring from North Carolina Community Colleges can view a list of transferrable community college courses and Meredith course equivalencies. Please note, these equivalencies are samples. Official articulation of credit occurs during the application and admission process.

Students transferring from Wake Technical Community College or Durham Technical Community College may wish to review course equivalencies and sample degree paths.

Meredith Strong Futures

The Meredith Strong Futures program is an articulation agreement with Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) which provides CPCC graduates with direct, guaranteed admission to Meredith and $10,000 in aid.
