Student Organizations

Social Work Club
The Meredith College Social Work Club promotes interest in social work, increases awareness of the social work profession among the Meredith community, functions as a supportive body for social work majors and prospective students, and serves as a forum for the discussion of social problems and issues. The club also provides input regarding program and curriculum changes and improvements to the social work program. Members engage in service projects and professional development opportunities, which have included sponsoring special events and participation in statewide conferences. Recent projects include a hygiene product drive for women in a residential substance abuse program, a toy drive for children whose mothers are incarcerated, and participating in a variety of advocacy efforts.

National Association of Social Workers (NASW)
The National Association of Social Workers is the professional organization for social workers, which advocates for the profession and client groups served by social workers. BSW students are eligible to apply for membership at a discounted student rate. BSW students are strongly encouraged to join NASW—application packets are available from the director of the social work program.
