Main Campus Drive
Welcome to Meredith College, where our 2,000 students are Going Strong. We’re one of America’s best colleges according to U.S. News, Forbes, and The Princeton Review. We’re also known for our beautiful campus, which is located near downtown Raleigh and the Research Triangle Park.
Johnson Hall
With its distinctive copper dome and grand entrance, Johnson Hall is the most iconic building on Meredith’s campus. Many of Meredith’s administrative offices are housed in Johnson Hall, including the Office of the President and the Jo Ellen Ammons Welcome Center.
Johnson Hall Rotunda
With its sweeping staircase and domed ceiling, the Johnson Hall Rotunda is the first stop for campus visitors. All student enrollment services are located in the wings on either side of the Rotunda, including admissions, financial assistance, the registrar, and the business office.
Jo Ellen Ammons Welcome Center – Created as part of an extensive renovation of Johnson Hall, the Welcome Center brought together admissions, financial assistance, accounting, and the registrar on the first floor in order to create a more user-friendly experience for students and their families.
Student Services – Accounting, Financial Assistance, and the Registrar are all conveniently located in Johnson Hall.
Jones Auditorium
Jones Auditorium seats over 600 guests. Dance and theatre productions by students are held in Jones, which also hosts lectures and other special events each semester. Studio Theatre is a black box theatre located below Jones Auditorium.
Visiting Artists – Meredith hosts a variety of artists such as Twyla Tharp, shown here interacting with the audience.
Carswell Concert Hall
Carswell Concert Hall, located in the Wainwright Music Building, is used for events such as recitals, concertos, and lectures. It is also equipped with an audio/visual system used for recording and live-streaming performances.
Residence Halls / Courtyard
Four residence halls border a courtyard where students study, catch up with friends, or just relax in the North Carolina sunshine. The courtyard is also the location for student picnics, outdoor movies, and Stunt, an annual competition between classes.
Meredith Beach
The Meredith “Beach” is a space for students to relax outdoors. It includes a sand volleyball court, grassy area bordered by residence halls, and a fire pit, which is often used by members of Meredith’s more than 100 student clubs and organizations.
Belk Dining Hall
Belk Dining Hall offers a wide variety of foods including home-cooked meals, weekly themed menus with customizable options, deli-style sandwiches, fruit/yogurt and salad bars, a grill station, delicious desserts, and vegan/vegetarian meals. And with annual average temperatures of 71℉ high and 50℉ low, students often take advantage of the outdoor patio seating.
Lux Hall
Academic programs including English, history, and political science, are housed in Lux Hall, as well as the Honors Program and the Office of International Programs. The Office of International Programs supports international students and manages study abroad – 32% of students study abroad, many in Meredith’s location in Sansepolcro, Italy.
Carlyle Campbell Library
Carlyle Campbell Library offers research assistance, collaboration space, and technology support services. The library offers over 440,000 titles in print and online, and access to articles from over 77,000 journals, magazines, and newspapers. It’s also home to the College Archives, the Learning Center, which offers free tutoring in a range of subjects, and a to-go food pod with snacks and beverages.
Martin Hall
Home to programs including foreign languages, child development, food and nutrition, interior design, fashion design and merchandising, and family and consumer sciences, Martin features specialized labs and studios including a Computer Aided Design (CAD) studio.
Ellen Brewer House
Students gain practical experience at Ellen Brewer House, a five-star, on-campus, infant/toddler education program.
Weatherspoon Athletic Center
Weatherspoon houses Meredith’s fitness center, dance studios, physical education classrooms, and the athletics and dance studies programs. Outside Weatherspoon are a putting green and driving range as well as a community garden.
Dickson Foundation Community Garden – Dickson Foundation Community Garden serves as a teaching tool for the undergraduate and graduate food and nutrition programs
Weatherspoon Gymnasium
Home to Meredith’s basketball and volleyball teams, Weatherspoon Gymnasium provides up-close seating for over 500 spectators. The complex also includes locker rooms, athletic offices, a training room, a fitness center, and dance studios.
Lowry Fitness Center
Students and student-athletes work out in the recently-renovated Lowery Fitness Center, which includes treadmills, elliptical cross trainers, rowers, power lifting racks, and much more. A member of the USA South Athletic Conference, Meredith fields eight NCAA Division III teams: basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field, volleyball and club golf.
Gaddy-Hamrick Art Center
Meredith’s visual arts programs are housed in Gaddy-Hamrick Art Center, which includes two graphic design labs, a digital photography lab, a lighting studio, studios for drawing, painting, ceramics, 3-D sculpture, and printmaking, an art history lecture hall, a ceramics kiln, and an outdoor sculpture garden.
Frank G. Weems Gallery
The Frankie G. Weems Gallery sponsors numerous exhibitions each year, featuring the work of students, faculty, and guest artists.
Harris Building
The Harris Building is home to Meredith’s School of Business and communication programs. The building’s features include break-out seminar rooms, student study rooms, and a fully-equipped communication lab that simulates an agency setting.
MBA Program – Students may go on to earn their MBA through Meredith’s coeducational program. Some earn their undergraduate degree and MBA in just five years through the MBA 4+1 program.
Cate Student Center
In the Cate Student Center you’ll find Student Leadership and Service, which guides student leadership development, helps students engage in more than 100 clubs and organizations, and supports service and volunteer efforts. Also found in Cate are resources for commuter students including workstations and computers, the campus store and an on-campus post office.
Kresge Auditorium
Kresge Auditorium often hosts lectures and larger on-campus gatherings. A recent renovation improved accessibility, including expanded accessible seating and improved auditorium entrances.
Bee Hive / Student Area
Cate Student Center is a popular place for students to relax between classes, hold meetings and events, or catch a quick bite to eat at The Bee Hive. The Bee Hive is ideal for students on the go, offering made-to-order sandwiches, snacks, coffee, a yogurt bar, and more. The Student Leadership and Service office guides student leadership development, helps students engage in more than 100 clubs and organizations, and supports service and volunteer efforts.

Strengths Lab
StrongPoints® is a personal advising and coaching initiative found only at Meredith. While students build on their strengths throughout their college experience, the StrengthsLab is a dedicated space for them to work on their strengths.
Wall of Strengths – Students identify their top strengths during New Student Orientation using a research-based assessment tool. They spend the next four years learning how to use their strengths to prepare for the careers and lives they want after graduation.
StrongPoints – StrongPoints® is a personal advising and coaching initiative found only at Meredith. After identifying their strengths, students learn how to use their strengths to prepare for the careers and lives they want after graduation.
Office of Career Planning – Expert career planning staff assist students with selecting a major, assessing skills and talents, securing internships, and participating in mock interviews.
Science & Mathematics Building Atrium
The Science and Mathematics Building (SMB) houses science, mathematics, public health, and computer science programs, as well as a dual degree engineering program with NC State University. The Microscopy Suite contains a scanning electron microscope and other advanced light microscopes. An astronomy observation deck houses a weather station and telescope mounts. And computer science students work in the Bit Lab, where they build and deconstruct computers.
Science & Mathematics Building Lab
The Science and Mathematics Building contains 80,000 square feet of labs and classrooms, including 13 research labs and the Engineering Discovery Lab, a hands-on scientific laboratory where students perform experiments and design projects in a group setting.
Science & Mathematics Building Courtyard
On a sunny day, faculty can hold class in the Science and Mathematics Building’s courtyard. And with fountains and a lush, green setting, it’s also an ideal place to study or gather with friends.
Ledford Hall
Meredith’s psychology, education, and social work programs are located in Ledford Hall. Ledford also houses graduate-level psychology and education programs for women and men.
The Oaks Student Apartments
Apartment Interior
Jones Chapel/McIver Amphitheater
Jones Chapel includes a 400-seat sanctuary, the Office of the Chaplain, a common room, meditation room, and a library. The Chapel hosts special events in addition to a weekly non-denominational chapel service. Meredith’s diverse student population includes students from many faith backgrounds.
McIver Amphitheater – McIver Amphitheater is one of the most memorable outdoor spots on our campus. The park-like setting also provides a quiet place for studying or spending time with friends.
Athletic Complex
Meredith’s athletic complex features an artificial turf field surrounded by an eight-lane track. The Avenging Angels lacrosse, soccer, and track and field teams all practice and compete here. The track is also the site of physical education classes and campus races including Daisy Dash and Trick or Trot, which are open to all students. A member of the USA South Athletic Conference, Meredith has 6 tournament titles in lacrosse, 2 in volleyball and 1 each in soccer and tennis; 5 regular season championships in soccer; 4 regular season championships in lacrosse, 2 in volleyball, and 1 in softball; and 3 cross country championships.
Hillsborough Street
Meredith’s front gate opens onto Hillsborough Street. Students enjoy restaurants, a coffee shop, and a comedy club just across the street from the College. Additional restaurants, shopping, salons, and more are all within easy walking distance of campus.
The greenway is part of Raleigh’s network of recreational trails and is used regularly by students for walking, jogging, and biking. Access begins at the southeastern corner of campus and connects to the Museum Park of the North Carolina Museum of Art, another favorite destination for students.
Raleigh
Meredith is just minutes from downtown Raleigh, North Carolina’s capital city, which has been named the #1 Best Big City in the Southeast by Money magazine. Our students love being close to a vibrant downtown and nearby universities, while living on a green, classically-collegiate campus. Raleigh is also a great place to launch your career – it’s close to the world-famous Research Triangle Park, and our students choose from a range of strong internships – which often turn into jobs.
