Staying Strong COVID-19 Updates for Parents & Families
- Published
Staying Strong updates include important COVID-19 reminders that are helpful during the Spring 2022 semester.
Updated Masking Guidance
Meredith encourages its students and employees to make wearing a mask a normal part of being around other people. The appropriate use, storage, and cleaning or disposal of masks are essential to make them as effective as possible. Given the high contagion rates of the Omicron variant, employees are encouraged to avoid wearing washable masks in favor ofmore effective masks such as surgical or N95, KN95, or KF94 masks. All these masks provide more protection from COVID than the cloth versions. Meredith is making KN95 masks available at no cost in the Campus Store. Each Meredith community member is eligible to receive one free pack of 10 KN95 masks.
Boosters Strongly Encouraged
The CDC recently released a schedule and definition for what it means to be up to date on COVID vaccinations. If eligible, Meredith students are encouraged to complete the regimen and submit that information in Meredith’s COVID portal. Students who are already up to date on their vaccinations are asked to upload their booster information into the portal, which will allow Meredith to keep our campus vaccination rate information up to date.
Quarantine/Isolation Changes
The College has reviewed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) updated recommendations for isolation and quarantine and in balancing what is known about the spread of the virus, the protection provided by vaccination and booster doses, and the risk associated with being part of a residential college campus, has updated some of Meredith’s COVID guidance for the spring semester.
Meredith leaders continue making decisions that are based on the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the State of North Carolina, and the American College Health Association. All decisions are made with the health and safety of our entire community as the highest priority.
