Over spring break, 16 Meredith students traveled to Wilmington, N.C., to learn about environmental issues affecting our North Carolina coastline.
Trip participants also volunteered with the NC Coastal Federation to build an oyster barrier wall to protect a natural shoreline at the Morris Landing Water Preserve Shoreline.
Students had the opportunity to explore Wilmington, including a historical walking tour of downtown, a Cape Fear riverboat cruise, and a visit to Wrightsville Beach.
The students were accompanied by staff members Catie Trimble McAnulty, representing the Office of Student Leadership and Service, and Traci Stewart Johnson, representing the Office of International programs.
This trip, coordinated through the Office of Student Leadership and Service, was made possible by an endowment from the late Carol Sloan, ’75, and O. Temple Sloan, Honorary Co-Chair of the Meredith College Beyond Strong Campaign Planning Committee.
