Meredith College Hosts Spring 2019 Internship Expo

The Meredith College Office of Career Planning along with the School of Business co-sponsored the Spring 2019 Internship Expo held April 5 in the Cate Center. More than 25 organizations, spanning from STEM companies and corporations to non-profits and museums, were in attendance, all looking for interns and part-time employees.

“We really try to work with a variety of organizations that employ Meredith alumnae. There are tons of alums here today and this helps build instant connections with students,” said Jane Matthews, assistant director of employee relations in the Office of Career Planning.

While the event was co-sponsored by the School of Business, there was a variety of booths from companies in and around the Raleigh area. The companies included MetLife, American Red Cross, Enterprise Holdings, Durham Bulls, Marbles Kids Museum, and Imangi Studios.

“The Office of Career Planning knows so many companies that recognize Meredith as a reputable school,” said Lilly Wood, ’20, who was looking for summer internship opportunities at the expo. “The companies understand that Meredith students will make great employees.”

Representatives were excited to talk to current Meredith students about their companies. Meredith graduates have a reputation of being hard workers, dedicated employees, and highly educated in their field, according to many companies who have employed Meredith graduates. All things that employers look for in their new hires.

“We know that Meredith is a wonderful place to connect with dedicated students,” said Ellen Samples from Camden Property Trust.

The internship expo is a good place for students to gain insight into the job market around Raleigh, make networking connections, as well as practice worthwhile interview skills in a casual environment.
