Meredith and Women’s Forum Celebrate Oral History Project Completion
- Published
On Monday November 12, 2018, The Women’s Forum and the Department of History, Political Science, and International Studies gathered to celebrate the completion of a joint project to commemorate the effort to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment in North Carolina.
The project, a written chronicle of the Women’s Forum’s efforts at ERA ratification, was compiled using oral histories that were recorded and transcribed by Meredith College students Miranda Pikaart, Morgan Johnson, and Dominique Bateman. Assistant Professor of History Angela Robbins wrote the introductory essay to the chronicle and served as a consultant on the overall project.
At the celebration, Professor of Political Science David McLennan and Professor of History Dan Fountain were also recognized for their roles in supporting the project. President Jo Allen provided a warm welcome the Women’s Forum to Meredith’s campus while former North Carolina legislator Deborah Ross delivered a rousing keynote address to close the evening celebration.
