Meredith Among Top 50 Alma Maters of National Board Certified Teachers

Meredith College has again made the list of “Top 50 Alma Maters of National Board Certified Teachers ” by total number of alumni to hold this distinction. Meredith came in at 46 in the nation and is the only private institution in North Carolina to make the list.

To earn this recognition, Meredith College had 442 alumnae who have earned National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification. Meredith previously made the Top 50 ranking in 2014.

Established in 1987, the National Board is an independent, nonprofit organization working to advance accomplished teaching for all students. National Board certification is considered the gold standard in teacher certification.

Meredith College’s undergraduate education program has a unique approach to educating teachers. A Meredith student who plans to become a teacher majors in the field of her choice and, at the same time, pursues a program that leads to teaching licensure. This combination of a college major plus a teacher education program uniquely prepares Meredith graduates to meet the needs of their students.

Meredith College’s teacher education program also includes graduate options. Learn more about Meredith’s Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) and Master of Education (M.Ed.)
