It’s Cornhuskin’ Time!

This year, Cornhuskin’ promises lots of new and exciting additions for your student!

On Main Event day, November 4, Corn Parade 2023 will start the day off at 3:30 p.m. and be bigger and better than ever.

We need lots of families to help us make sure the parade runs smoothly! If you would like to volunteer to help with the parade, you would need to arrive at the volunteer check-in table at the top of the amphitheater at 2:30 p.m. Once you check in, you’ll be given a map and instructions– as well as a wristband to sit in a dedicated parent volunteer spot inside the amphitheater to watch the Corn Main Event! Please contact Kacey Reynolds Schedler, Assistant Director of Student Leadership and Service, at klreynolds@meredith.edu.

We will also have a Food Truck & Cornhuskin’ Activity Booth Fair with student organization booths and dessert food trucks in the Chapel Lot before and after the parade to satisfy your sweet tooth and offer fun activities and giveaways.

Families, would you like to send a CORNY message to your student that could possibly be read during the Corn Main Event? Then submit a CORN-A-GRAM! Some messages will be randomly selected by the student-led Meredith Recreation Association to be read aloud during the Cornhuskin’ Main Event. All messages that are submitted will be posted on Meredith’s MC Connect for your student to read! Here is the link to submit a message: CORN-A-GRAM Google Form.

But wait, there’s more! Belk Dining Hall (BDH) will be providing a Cornhuskin’ BBQ in the BDH Courtyard at 4 p.m. after the Parade ends. Students with and without a dining plan and staff, faculty, and guests are invited! Tickets are available to purchase at  https://community.meredith.edu/2023-cornhuskin-bbq for staff, faculty, guests, and students who are not on a meal plan or individuals can pay at the BBQ with exact cash. Plan to bring your picnic blanket or chair and enjoy burgers, hot dogs, and fixins before the Main Event!

But wait, there’s even more! We value inclusion and access for all participants and are pleased to provide reasonable accommodations for Corn 2023. In addition to physical accessibility accommodations, we are also offering sensory accommodations, such as a Suggested Visual Schedule for Enjoying Corn, noise reduction headphones, and sensory grab bags. Please see our Cornhuskin’ Accessibility Plan (link opens in new tab) and email Kacey Reynolds Schedler, SLS Assistant Director/MRA Advisor (klreynolds@meredith.edu), if you need to make a reasonable accommodation request or have any questions about accessibility.

The 2023 student and guest wristband information, as well as the spectator guidelines, are available on the Student Leadership and Service MyMeredith page. Wristband requests are not open at this time; official student and guest wristband requests will be sent out at a later date. For the exact timeline of student and guest wristband requests, please review the documents on the Student Leadership and Service MyMeredith page. For general Cornhuskin’ questions, please email mccorn@meredith.edu
