Associate Professor of Spanish Astrid Billat has recently published two books. El niño que no decia mama is about her son's autism therapy, including his four years at the Meredith Autism Program. Her other book, Un coqui nunca deja de cantar, is a children’s book that tells a story about Puerto Rican coquies (frogs) during Hurricane Maria.

Assistant Professor of Art Holly Fischer’s sculptures will be featured in an upcoming exhibition at FRANK Gallery in Chapel Hill, N.C. The show runs from February 9-March 3, including a virtual reception on Friday, February 19 from 7-8 p.m. Learn more on the gallery site

Assistant Professor of Marketing Lisa Monahan and her coauthors recently had a paper, “How May I Help You? Driving Brand Engagement Through the Warmth of an Initial Chatbot Message,” accepted at the Journal of Business Research.

Professor of World Languages & Cultures Brent A. Pitts’ new critical edition, The Anglo-Norman Bible's Book of Joshua, has been published by Brepols Publishers. From the publisher’s description: “The Anglo-Norman Bible’s Joshua includes tales of spies, giants, the prostitute Rahab, the punishment of Achan, oracles, and Joshua’s brilliant military victories. Joshua stops the sun. The first half of the book relates Joshua’s stunning conquests in Canaan. The second half, the apportionment of the land among the tribes, detailed geographical surveys of territorial boundaries, and the death of Joshua.”

Professor of English Kelly Morris Roberts presented “Incorporating Anti-Racist Children’s’ Books into Classroom Praxis” at the state convention of the N.C. Association of Elementary Educators, which was held virtually on January 30.
