Tessa Nguyen, a current Dietetic Intern at Meredith College, is the recipient of the 2014 North Carolina Dietetic Association (NCDA) Outstanding Dietetics Student Award.
The Outstanding Dietetic Student Award recognizes the emerging leadership and achievement of students in Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited and approved dietetics education programs.
Nguyen is a Certified Chef de Cuisine who graduated magna cum laude with her Bachelor of Science in culinary nutrition from Johnson & Wales University. She decided to continue her pursuit of nutrition knowledge by seeking out a distinguished Dietetic Internship Program that would help expand upon her culinary skills and cultivate her dietetics skills.
“Eating healthy can be achieved by anyone, regardless of their cooking skills,” Nguyen said. “I aspire to one day be known as the Registered Dietitian who helps people see nutrition can be both approachable and a way to keep food tasting delicious.”
Upon completing her Dietetic Internship at Meredith, Nguyen plans to specialize in the field of sports nutrition. She looks forward to working with athletes in order to provide first-rate nutrition care while ensuring they have gourmet meals tailored to fit their needs.
