During her time at Meredith, Cody Jeffery, ’16, completed four internships, studied abroad in China, served as a Learning Center tutor, and wrote an honors thesis on the relationship between non-violent horse training, equine legislation, and the North Carolina economy.
“All of these things helped me hone in on my strengths in new ways and expose my weaknesses so that I could improve upon them.”
A business administration major with minors in professional writing and presentation media, economics, and communication, Cody now works as an operations analyst for global financial services company Credit Suisse.
She said that her Meredith experience – especially her relationships with faculty – prepared her for success.
“Not only did I get to know many of my professors, but I felt that they genuinely cared about my education. They took the time and energy to ensure that we learned things that were applicable to our real lives.”
Cody also was actively involved in campus life, participating in and leading a number of different organizations.
“By the time I was senior, I was the editor-in-chief of The Meredith Herald and co-president of the Student Business Advisory Board. Both of these organizations allowed me to build relationships across campus, grow as a leader, and shape my future.”
Cody also volunteered off-campus for equine therapeutic organizations.
“Since my horse lived an hour away, I wanted to be around horses during the week and be able to give back to the community at the same time. Everything that I was involved in at Meredith allowed me to apply what I was learning in the classroom to real life situations – whether as leader, a follower, or a learner.”
An honors scholar, Cody also participated in three honor societies: Kappa Nu Sigma, Alpha Lambda Delta, and Beta Gamma Sigma.
“The best part of my Meredith experience was the support system I found every way that I turned. Each and every opportunity I took made me a stronger, more well-rounded individual.”
