David Williams and his wife, Mary Jane, are long time supporters of Meredith. They were both were raised in Meredith families: David’s mother, Vida Thompson Williams was in the Class of 1938, David’s father, Fred Williams was Trustee Emeritus, David’s sister, Nancy Williams Cheek, Class of 1963 was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and is now Trustee Emerita, Mary Jane’s mother, Jane Seate Facey was in the Class of 1954.
David graduated in 1969 from North Carolina State University in Engineering Operations. After volunteering for the Army, he completed Officer Candidate School and was commissioned. He completed three years of service, with one year in Vietnam, as a Finance Corp. Officer.
In 1975, David started his construction company that developed and built over 400 residential and commercial properties in Cary, NC. He continues to manage over 30 commercial properties in Cary. He holds both a Real Estate license and a General Contractor’s license.
David is an avid golfer, having played for the NC State Golf Team, and he plays in many statewide tournaments. He also has a private pilot’s license. He enjoys reading about monumental construction projects and biographies of successful people.
David and Mary Jane have four adult children and enjoy traveling especially in the NC and Virginia mountains.
