Profile
After graduating with a B.A. in psychology, I was a Boys’ and Girls’ Club unit director in an urban setting for two years working with youth age 6-18. In 1999, I pursued teaching at University of South Carolina where I earned my M.A.T. in Elementary Education. From 2000-2002, I taught culturally and linguistically diverse 4th graders in South Florida. In 2004, I pursued my Ph.D. in Language and Literacy at USC. During this time, my research focused on issues in urban education, including culturally relevant pedagogy and literacy policy. In 2012, I was thrilled to join the faculty at Meredith.
