Charles Royal is the North Carolina Market Leader and Managing Director for Bank of America Private Bank in Raleigh, North Carolina. Charles works closely with Private Client advisors, Private Client Managers and Portfolio Managers to optimize the client experience, fostering a culture of in-depth customization, effective collaboration and responsible team growth. With more than 15 years of experience serving the high-net-worth sector, Charles is closely attuned to the services and strategies that can provide a differentiated experience for individuals, families and nonprofit institutions. He grounds his approach in integrity and transparency, committed to advancing the long-term best interests of each client. Charles is responsible for attracting and mentoring preeminent talent within the market. He looks to connect advisors with the tools, resources and techniques that can help them anticipate client needs and follow through on clients’ priorities. He also facilitates streamlined access to capabilities across the Bank of America enterprise, resulting in a more cohesive and efficient framework for integrated wealth and investment management. His extensive experience in financial services has endowed him with a practical understanding of client concerns and aspirations, heightening his effectiveness as a problem solver, mentor, and guide.
Prior to joining Bank of America Private Bank, Charles was the Regional Managing Director of Wealth Management for Wells Fargo/Wachovia for the North Carolina Central Region, having served in the wealth management division for over 15 years. Previously, he was in Business Banking with Wachovia bank and has been in Financial Services for over 37 years.
He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed the Executive Leadership Program there as well. Active in his community, he serves on the boards of Meredith College, the Raleigh Chamber and The Green Chair Project, all in Raleigh. He also volunteers with Trinity Baptist Church and Habitat for Humanity in Raleigh. He currently resides in Raleigh his with wife, Kim. They have two adult children, one grandchild and a Labrador retriever. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family, playing golf and volunteering in the community.
