In honor of International Education Week, which Meredith College is celebrating this week with a variety of special events, here are four ways global education is a priority at Meredith.
1. Meredith offers study abroad programs to fit a wide range of interests. Meredith has faculty-led summer options in a number of places around the world. In summer 2020, students can choose from Meredith abroad programs in Italy, Paris, Spain, and the UK. In recent years, programs have also been offered in Belize, Costa Rica, and Peru. Students who want to study abroad in other locations can choose from affiliate programs that meet Meredith’s standards, ensuring students have a safe and academically appropriate experience.
2. Another indicator of Meredith’s commitment to study abroad is our permanent location in Italy. Meredith has offered study abroad programs in Tuscany for more than 25 years, and has had its own palazzo for a decade. Meredith in Italy programs include faculty-led semester and summer study that fulfill general education requirements or electives in several majors. After more than two decades of partnership with this warm and welcoming town, the Meredith community calls Sansepolcro its Italian home. Watch our Meredith in Italy video playlist

3. In addition to study abroad, Meredith also provides dedicated support for international students. Many faculty and staff take an interest in international students, with the Office of International Programs serving as the primary support. Our assistant director of international programs is the main advisor, liaison, and advocate for international students at Meredith. She assists with questions about cultural adjustment, campus life, visa-related concerns, local activities, public transportation, as well as employment.
4. The Office of International Programs also sponsors events dedicated to international students through the Meredith International Association (MIA). Each year, MIA offers programs throughout the year, such as International Coffee Houses, the United Nations (UN) Dinner, the Meredith International Festival, and the MIA Fashion and Culture Show, where students get to celebrate and share their home cultures with the Meredith community.
