You Just Have to Experience It…Again!

Alumnae and friends of the College enjoyed reliving Cornhuskin’ at this year’s 4th Annual Homecoming.  This fun filled weekend allows alumnae from across the decade to experience Cornhuskin’… again!  With the changes in this year’s schedule, alumnae and friends were able to attend Can Art, held on Friday afternoon.  Immediately following Can Art, alumnae, friends, and family were hosted at a Happy Hour to kick off the weekend festivities.

Saturday started with a Kids Zone and our youngest Cornhuskers were able to enjoy inflatables, face painting, and balloon animals.  Soon after, all Homecoming participants kicked off the parade.  As they made their way down the Front Drive, many alumnae donned their Cornhuskin’ sweatshirts from their student days.  These “vintage” designs were a fun highlight for students and alumnae alike.  Prior to enjoying the class competition, alumnae were able to enjoy a picnic on campus.  As has become a tradition at Homecoming, the senior class walks through a group of cheering alumnae onto their final Cornhuskin’.  The Class of 2020 processed through a crowd of alumnae from across the decade and some of their soon to be Meredith Angels.  It’s the very beginning of welcome our current students into the Alumnae Association and shows them what they soon have to look forward to as alumna.

Hilary Allen, ’01, director of Alumnae Relations, noted that “Cornhuskin’ is the official Homecoming for Meredith College.  Alumnae enjoy bringing their children to campus to relive or experience one of Meredith most treasured campus traditions.  As much as Cornhuskin’ has changed over the decades – the production level is something many of us did not see as students – so much of the experience itself remains the same.  The bonds, friendships, and memories that are made during this experience is something that today’s students will remember for the rest of their lives.”
