Special Events Kickoff Fall Semester

Meredith’s Office of Student Leadership and Service, and student organizations, presented two special events to help kickoff the 2017 academic year. Learn more about Sizzlin’ September and SPLASH! Into Service, which help introduce students to different aspects of campus life.

Sizzlin’ September Street Fest

The Sizzlin’ September Street Fest, hosted by the Meredith Activities Board on Friday, September 8, kicked-off the year and helped welcome students to campus.  The street festival included carnival rides and activities, four local food trucks with free food vouchers for Meredith community members, and multiple local music groups, including Bull City Syndicate, Radio Jacks, and NC State’s Grains of Time acapella group.

The 2017 Sizzlin’ September Street Festival was presented as a new format to the previously hosted Sizzlin’ September Concert.  The Meredith Activities Board hopes to make this outdoor festival format a new staple for its annual fall concert.

SPLASH! Into Service

At the start of each year, Meredith students dive into volunteering in the community through Meredith’s annual SPLASH! Into Service event.  As a half-day community service event, SPLASH! provides students the opportunity to learn about and give back to the local Raleigh community.

This year 46 Meredith students and four Meredith staff volunteered across three project sites: the Boys and Girls Club, Raleigh Rescue Mission Thrift Store and Warehouse, and the Meredith College Three Sister’s Garden. SPLASH! Into Service is hosted by the Office of Student Leadership and Service.
