President Sapp Connects with Alumnae at Welcome Events
- Published
The Office of Alumnae Relations and Institutional Advancement held Welcome Events in the fall of 2024 to introduce President Sapp to alumnae and friends of the College.
The events held in Charlotte, Raleigh, Pinehurst, Wrightsville Beach, New York City, and Winston-Salem allowed President Sapp to meet numerous alumnae and speak to this important group who support the College in many ways. Her focus in each speech was to introduce herself and provide a College update.
A number of the Welcome Events were hosted by alumnae. The Charlotte event was hosted by former Board of Trustee member Billy Maddalon. Elizabeth Beam, ʼ72, hosted the Triangle area event. Jo Smith Cooper, ʼ67, and Alma Ammons Hoffman, ʼ89, M.Ed., hosted the Pinehurst area event. The Wilmington area event was hosted by Deborah Stanley McNeill, ʼ71, Brenda Hughes, ʼ70, and Ann Lowery, ʼ74. A highlight of the evening was a special painting by Janet Sessoms, ʼ69, that was given to President Sapp on behalf of eastern NC alumnae. The last welcome event of the fall was in Winston-Salem and was hosted by Susan Fogleman Gordon, ʼ80, and Molly Ferrell Twine, ʼ80.
“The Presidential Welcome Events have provided great opportunities for President Sapp to meet alumnae, introduce herself, and share goals for the College under her leadership,” said Hilary Allen, ʼ01, director of alumnae relations. “President Sapp exudes such warmth and enthusiasm, and alumnae have learned firsthand at these events that we are in great hands under her leadership.”
Additional Welcome events will be planned for the spring of 2025. As those are planned, alumnae within those areas will receive information from the College.
