October is Energy Awareness Month
- Published
October is National Energy Awareness Month, which is a great opportunity to share the ways Facilities Services is continuing efforts in managing Meredith’s energy and water usage, under new Energy Manager Kathleen Stahl.
There are several energy and water projects in the works, and a “smart” LED lighting project in Harris Building was recently completed.
The Energy Management section of MyMeredith will be updated periodically with success stories and graphs of energy and water usage, including the electrical usage for each of the residence halls. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to help Meredith reduce energy usage by being mindful of turning off lights, turning back thermostats when you aren’t in a room, closing exterior doors when heat or air conditioning are on, and minimizing water use.
With the heat wave that continued into October, summer and fall air conditioning use has increased, resulting in higher than normal energy and water use in Meredith’s chiller plant. Facilities Services looks forward to working with the campus community to conserve our energy and water resources.
