Mini-Commencement Celebration for Lacrosse Seniors
- Published
Meredith’s Avenging Angels Lacrosse team played in the first round of the NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Tournament on May 13. Since the seniors on the team would miss their commencement ceremony, Meredith honored these students with their own mini-commencement on May 11, 2017, in Johnson Hall rotunda.
President Jo Allen, ’80, Vice President for College Programs Jean Jackson, ’75, and Chaplain Donna Battle spoke at the event, which incorporated Meredith’s long-standing traditions from commencement weekend including Class Day and the Baccalaureate Worship Service in an effort to give seniors Alyssa Codispoti, Jennifer Halvorson, Molly Miller, and Katherine Sills a truly special Meredith graduation experience.
The Avenging Angels captured the program’s fourth consecutive USA South Conference Tournament Championship and earned its fourth-straight NCAA Women’s Lacrosse Tournament bid. For the second time in four NCAA appearances, Meredith competed in first round tournament action on the same day as the College’s commencement.
