Meredith College Welcomes High School Students for Find Your Wings Event

Meredith College welcomed high school students and their families for Find Your Wings, a college-planning workshop, on Saturday, March 7.

The day began with a brief overview of the college search process and a presentation from StrongPoints® Director Emily Caldwell on how students can leverage their strengths during their search. Students and their families were then split into two groups for separate sessions.

Admissions Counselors Daphanie Argandona, ’23, and Grace Dunn, ’25, led an activity to help students delve deeper into the college search. In small groups, students were tasked with developing a “dream college” based on factors such as location, size, campus life, and more. After each group presented, students individually reflected on the factors most important to them.

Attending students also had the opportunity to connect with Meredith student ambassadors, who provided tips from their own college search experiences.

Meanwhile, parents and families heard from several Meredith staff members about student life, academics, safety, and financial aid. After the breakout sessions, students and their families could enjoy a meal at Belk Dining Hall and tour the campus with a student ambassador.

“Find Your Wings provided a unique opportunity for high school students from the surrounding Triangle area to ask questions and begin exploring the college search process in an open environment,” said Vanessa Zóa, director of traditional admissions. “With experts providing information in a supportive, no-pressure setting, students and families could gain clarity and confidence as they prepare to take their next steps.”
