Meredith College to Offer Entrepreneurship Programs
- Published
Meredith College is expanding its business offerings to include entrepreneurship programs on the undergraduate and graduate level.
The School of Business will offer an interdisciplinary minor in entrepreneurship for undergraduates. Students in Meredith’s coeducational Master of Business Administration program will be able to complete a concentration in Entrepreneurship and Family Business. A post-baccalaureate certificate in entrepreneurship is also available.
Meredith is an ideal place for students interested in entrepreneurship, according to Kristie Ogilvie, dean of Meredith’s School of Business
“While most entrepreneurial programs tend to focus on the exciting ‘unicorn’ startups that have high growth potential, Meredith College provides a great environment for the pragmatic and practical every day entrepreneur,” Ogilvie said.
The new programs will meet a growing demand for programs in the entrepreneurship field.
“Over the past 10 years, no academic area of study or discipline has grown more rapidly in business schools than entrepreneurship while academic research related to entrepreneurship has increased in both quantity and rigor, with more than 40 dedicated and reputable journals in the field,” said Ogilvie.
In both of these options, students will gain the tools to develop a competitive business model for a new startup business or to build a growth plan for an existing business. Undergraduate courses offered in the minor will include venture management and new venture launch and planning. In the MBA concentration, students will learn business planning, business design, and strategies for entrepreneurial financing.
The undergraduate minor will be offered starting in Fall 2017 and the MBA concentration will begin in Summer 2018.
Meredith College is accredited by AACSB International. Less than 5% of business programs worldwide are AACSB-accredited. The Meredith MBA is a coeducational program. Learn more at meredith.edu/mba
