Meredith College to Hold 2026 Commencement on May 9

Meredith College will hold Commencement exercises for the Class of 2026 on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in the Johnson Hall courtyard. The ceremony will begin at 9 a.m.

Award-winning journalist and bestselling author Valerie Bauerlein will serve as Commencement speaker. 

A national affairs reporter for The Wall Street Journal for more than 20 years, Bauerlein is the author of the New York Times bestseller The Devil at His Elbow: Alex Murdaugh and the Fall of a Southern Dynasty. She also hosts the investigative podcast series Camp Swamp Road, which has earned national recognition. Earlier in her career, she served as Washington, D.C., correspondent for The News & Observer.

The Commencement ceremony will celebrate individuals who completed undergraduate or graduate degrees at Meredith in Summer 2025, December 2025, May 2026, and (pending) Summer 2026. Approximately 380 graduates are eligible to participate in Meredith’s ceremony.
