Meredith College Supports National Voter Registration Day

Meredith College will hold a Voter Registration and Information Fair on September 17, 2024, as part of National Voter Registration Day. Students, faculty, and staff can stop by the Cate Center patio from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (Rain Location: SMB Lobby) to register to vote, change their voter registration, or get information on the 2024 election.

Meredith College students have a strong history of political participation. In 2020 and 2022, Meredith students had the highest percentage of eligible students being registered to vote and actually voting of any college or university in North Carolina. In 2022, 88% of eligible students registered to vote, and in 2020, over 63% of Meredith students voted in the presidential election.

The National Voter Registration Day event will be the third voter registration and information session held at Meredith for this election year. Visit Meredith’s Voting FAQs for information on 2024 elections.

National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan civic holiday dedicated to celebrating democracy. The holiday is endorsed by the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS), the National Association of State Election Directors (NASED), the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC), and the National Association of Election Officials (The Election Center).

Meredith’s 2024 summer reading theme is “Strong Voices: Empowering Student Citizenship.” The College is promoting civic engagement throughout the fall semester with events and activities related to the theme. Visit meredith.edu/srp-2024/ for more information.
