The Best Student News Brief award is for student newscasts under 10 minutes long. MCSN competed against schools from North Carolina and South Carolina. Second place went to Campbell University.

Associate Professor of Communication Lynn Owens serves as MCSN advisor.

“The competition is judged by TV news professionals across the country, so to see them recognize our students this way is amazing,” said Owens. “I’m so proud of them, and I see improvement in every show they produce. I hope this is just one of many awards MCSN will win in the future.”

MCSN is produced in Meredith’s news studio, located in the CHESS building. Newscasts can be viewed at youtube.com/@meredithcollegestudentnews
