Meredith College soccer added another title to their list as the 2017 USA South East Division Regular Season Co-Champion. With a 2-1 win over rival Methodist Saturday evening, the Avenging Angels secured an East #2 seed in the conference tournament and the privilege to host a quarterfinal round.
On Saturday, Oct. 28, Meredith will welcome the first round winner between #3 Greensboro and #6 N.C. Wesleyan. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. at the Meredith turf, and admission will be charged per USA South policy. Faculty, staff, students, seniors, and children will enter at a discounted rate of $3 with general admission charged at $6.
Cross country will travel to Demorest, Ga., to compete in the USA South Championship meet at Piedmont College. Team leaders Macy Brinson, Caroline Diorio, and rookie Karen Perez will set the pace for the Angels as they chase new league member Berea College, a nationally ranked program, and the defending champion and host Lions.
With three matches left in the regular season, the Meredith volleyball squad continues to fight for a strong position in final standings. The Avenging Angels currently rank in a tie for second with cross-town rival William Peace, and the two go head-to-head Wednesday at 7 p.m. (No ticket required for entry into the match on the campus of WPU.)
MCVB wraps up the regular season Saturday with a USA South tri-match beginning at noon on Senior Day.
