Meredith Admissions Office Hosts School Counselors

The Meredith Admissions team held its traditional holiday breakfast for area high school counselors on Thursday, December 5, in the Johnson Hall Rotunda. 

The event provides an opportunity for the counselors to get updates about Meredith, learn about important items such as scholarship availability and new academic programs, and spend time with other high school counselors in a relaxed setting.

Nearly 40 counselors representing 18 high schools attended the gathering, which was also attended by various Meredith staff and faculty, including members of the Executive Leadership Team.

A number of the counselors in attendance said they look forward to the annual tradition, while others were new attendees this year.

Katie O’Riordan from Leesville Road High School said she enjoys seeing colleagues from other schools.

“We learn new things about Meredith and get to connect with counselors we haven’t seen in a while – I appreciate that Meredith provides that opportunity,” she said, adding “It’s just so festive, it feels like a treat.”

April Leon from Broughton High School agreed that the event allows her to learn more about what is happening at Meredith.

“I just learned about the possible new nursing program coming to Meredith, which would be awesome.”

Director of Admissions Justine Whitfield said the Office of Admissions looks forward to the annual gathering every year.

“We see this as a way to celebrate the incredible partnership between our team and our partners on the other side of the desk – both high school counselors and transfer advisors,” said Whitfield. “These dedicated professionals work tirelessly throughout the year to support their students, and we love the opportunity to recognize their energy and commitment to helping students find their college fit – hopefully at Meredith!”
