Library resources for de-stressing during finals

As spring quickly transforms into summer, the semester is also quickly approaching the time for finals, end of semester grading, and graduation. Although the lazy days of summer are on the horizon, the last few weeks of school can be quite stressful. Just at the library can help with providing a quiet place for studying and research, we can also help with de-stressing during this time.

We have gotten in a lot of new games during this year so you can enjoy those deserved breaks. Unwind with a round of the dice game TenziCards Against Humanity, or Exploding Kittens, another fun card game. We also have sports equipment to check out if you need to get outside and relieve some stress playing a game of badminton, riding a bike, or if you simply want to relax and nap in a hammock. All of our sports equipment is available at the information desk and we have a display up now highlighting some of our equipment, board games and Wii games available.

Our DVD collection has some new titles too. We have added more Oscar winning films, like Moonlight, along with other mainstream titles, like The Secret Life of Pets, the new Ghostbusters, and The Nice Guys, that will get you laughing and relaxing. We also added in some anime titles thanks to suggestions from the Anime Club. If you couldn’t catch the latest BBC shows Sherlock or Victoria, we have those in now too. The library gets in new DVDs all the time and you can keep up with the new arrivals from the library’s Pinterest New DVDs page.

The library will also offer the service of being open for 24 hours starting on Sunday, April 30 through 10 p.m. Saturday, May 6. The library will reopen at 8 a.m. on Sunday, May 7 and resume a 24 hour schedule until Thursday, May11 when we close at 6 p.m. If you feel like studying until 4 a.m. or taking advantage of our beanbag chairs for a nap, you will have ample opportunities during the days or until the wee hours of the mornings.  Also on Reading Day, May 3, we will be offering 10 minute massages for our students. They will need to sign up here and come to the Harris Room, on the second floor of the library, a few minutes before their appointment. All of us at the library hope you have a wonderful end of the semester!
