League of Women Voters Political Issues Series to Be Held at Meredith

Meredith College and the League of Women Voters of Wake County announce a new discussion series examining government process and policy issues important to all citizens. This series is sponsored by the Meredith College Civil Communication Task Force.

This series will feature speakers from the political left and right discussing the current state of government and politics in the state and giving audience members ideas how citizens can be more involved.

Audience members will not only listen to the speakers’ ideas, but be given ample opportunity to react to and discuss these ideas in small groups. One of the goals of this series is to give people a forum to talk about important political issues without resorting to yelling and screaming.

Each session meets from 6:30-8 p.m. on the Meredith campus. The schedule and topics are as follows:

September 19   Political power in North Carolina: How can citizens have more influence?

October 17       Government services and taxes in NC: What is the most effective and fair way to pay for the service we need?
