On its 100th anniversary, Kappa Nu Sigma (KNS) held the spring induction ceremony March 2, 2023, in Jones Chapel. KNS is the highest academic honors society at Meredith. Inductees are members of the junior and senior classes with a minimum requirement of a 3.9 GPA after 75 credit hours or a 3.8 GPA after 90 credit hours.
More than 40 inductees from the junior and senior classes represented a wide range of majors, from English to psychology to interior design.
Being inducted into KNS is special for so many members as it shines a light on their hard work. For Caroline Ricks, ’23, “It’s an opportunity to recognize my hard work over the past four years and take pride in my academic achievements. I am honored to have been inducted and to have the opportunity to celebrate not only my successes but also some of my classmates as well!”
Michaela Altman, ’24, was thrilled to be inducted because of what it represented to her as a woman.
“Being a member of KNS reminds me of the incredible value of women receiving an education. Not that long ago women were not allowed to attend school or obtain a degree, and in some places around the world, this is still an ongoing struggle,” she said. “I feel honored and blessed that I was able to stand alongside so many phenomenal women at the induction ceremony and that we were able to celebrate each other’s accomplishments together. Women are more than capable and worthy of receiving an education, and I am overjoyed KNS recognizes this.”
