The winter sports season at Meredith College is in full swing, highlighted by strong performances from our Avenging Angels.
Basketball has four quality wins so far this season. The Avenging Angels closed out 2024 with a convincing 64-55 victory over Salem College. In the win, junior Danae Hawkins set a career high. She scored 23 points on 8-14 from the floor, six made threes, and a free throw.
Meredith Basketball hosts three more themed games this season: Alumnae Game (January 25), Play for Kay (February 4), and Morgan’s Message (February 12).
In her first collegiate meet, Indoor Track & Field freshman Abigail Clayton placed second in the 400 meters with a time of 1:03.49 at the Mondo College Invitational. Her elite performance earned her USA South Track Rookie of the Week (1/20). Clayton’s effort was the seventh fastest 400 time in school history.
Freshman Ellie-Reed Zimmerman set a new school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.91.
