Incoming Students to Participate in Spring Orientation

New students arriving at Meredith in January will participate in spring New Student Orientation, which will take place on January 6-7, 2025.

Co-director of First Year Experience Lisa Brown said the spring orientation includes a robust array of programming to help students make a smooth transition to Meredith.

“Monday is the informal day and Tuesday is much more structured,” said Brown. “On Monday, new students can move into the residence halls and have the day to unpack and settle in. That evening there will be a New Student Meet Up that will include dinner in Belk Dining Hall – it is an optional activity that gives new students a chance to meet each other and connect with upper-class Student Advisors.”

On Tuesday, students will engage with various departments and staff across campus. They’ll get tips for academic success, participate in an interactive tour of the library, and learn more about their strengths and how to make the most of them during their time at Meredith. Students will also learn about health and wellness resources and hear from Student Leadership and Service staff members about Meredith’s unique traditions and opportunities for involvement.

Throughout the day, they’ll get to know their Student Advisors and members of their orientation group, both of which will continue to provide support for students throughout their first year. Students complete their orientation by participating in the Honor Code Ceremony.

“We are excited to welcome our newest students to campus,” said Brown. “Orientation is a great way to give students a taste of what their Meredith experience will be like and help them start to find their place on campus.

Note: Friday, January 10, 3-5 p.m. is the spring new student orientation inclement weather date. Students are asked to keep that time free on their calendar in case it’s needed.
