Get Involved in Avenging Angels Athletics

The Avenging Angels are going strong this spring! Athletic Director Jackie Myers in collaboration with the Office of Alumnae Relations welcomed more than 30 alumnae athletes and several former coaches back to campus this month. During brunch Myers presented the group with an update on recent success of the Avenging Angels along with plans for the future. Myers announced the launch of the Avenging Angels Club, a new membership fundraising effort to support special projects and other needs of Meredith athletics.

Tri-sport student-athlete Danielle Lee shared her experience as a current Avenging Angel, and guests cheered on lacrosse, softball, and tennis in action throughout the afternoon. The College plans to continue this tradition next year in an effort to reengage former Angels. Learn more at

The 17th Annual Meredith College Golf Classis will be held Monday, April 13, at the Brier Creek Country Club. Golfers enjoyed the change in venue last spring, and the athletics department looks forward to welcoming golfers, sponsors and volunteers beginning at 11:30 a.m. for registration and lunch. The shotgun start is scheduled for 1 p.m. throughout the 18-hole course. There’s still time to register to play, and sponsor packages are available as well. Register online or contact Tournament Director Fiona Barkley at to get involved.

Head Coach Amy Olsen arranged a last minute visit from Greg McMillan, a top U.S. distance running coach, on March 20. McMillan watched part of the cross country practice session and shared best practices with the team.

Last August Meredith announced the addition of the College’s eighth varsity sport of track and field set to open competition in spring 2016. Olsen assumed the role of head coach for this new sport and began recruiting for next fall’s launch.
