Fitness Center – Updates at a Glance

Renovations of Weatherspoon Physical Education building began in Winter 2017 to increase the size of the fitness center by 5,400 square feet. The expansion will allow for more group fitness opportunities, personalized training, new equipment, and longer operating hours.

Demolition is now complete. The space that once included a swimming pool has been filled with rock, and slab has been poured to create the base flooring. The windows have been revitalized, allowing for more natural sunlight to fill the space.

In addition to improving quality of life for the Meredith community, the new space will help attract prospective students and give wellness opportunities not offered before to current and future students. The Avenging Angels athletic teams will also be using this space for sports conditioning and team training.

Since July 1, Meredith parents have contributed more than $73,000 toward The Parents Fund. All contributions to this fund, along with a major gift from Trustee Ann Lowery, ʼ74, are being used to renovate the fitness center.

Renovations are expected to be complete in Fall 2017 – stay tuned for more information.

Thank you for making Meredith stronger than ever by supporting this project.
