In this issue, we celebrate accomplishments from faculty and staff in the arts and economics. We also share a news item about a new staff member in the Office of Alumnae Relations.
Professor Emerita Becky Bailey, former dean of Meredith’s School of the Arts, is a recipient of a North Carolina Art Education Association award. She is one of three arts educators named to the organization’s Distinguished Fellows Class of 2021. The North Carolina Art Education Association (NCAEA) is the state’s largest advocacy group dedicated to supporting visual arts education. Bailey will be recognized at the annual Professional Development Conference, which will be held October 22-24.
Professor of Economics Anne York was interviewed by WRAL Techwire for an article about North Carolina’s ranking as the 17th “Hardest Working State.” Read the article

New Assistant Director Joins Office of Alumnae Relations
The Office of Alumnae Relations welcomes Hannah Kicklighter, ’19, as assistant director of Alumnae Relations. Kicklighter received her B.S. in business administration from Meredith. As a student, she served as president for the Class of 2019 for four years.
Since graduating from Meredith, Kicklighter has worked in human resources and personnel positions with Luihn VantEdge Partners and Chick-fil-A. She has also served on the Young Alumnae Board for the Alumnae Association. Kicklighter’s work will focus on the 1891 Club, the student Alumnae Association, regional chapters and affinity events, Meredith Mentors, and other initiatives that engage alumnae within the life of the College.
