Faculty/Staff Accomplishments 3/8/23

In this issue, we celebrate the accomplishments of faculty and staff in business, communication, disability services, economics, English, and theatre.

Associate Professor of Management Lisa Delise and Assistant Professor of Operations Management Yunsik Choi recently published a paper titled “Understanding Project Management Performance Using a Comparative Overrun Measure” in the International Journal of Project Management. The paper proposes a metric that helps project managers use data from past projects to evaluate current project performance and learn lessons for managing projects that can be applied across the organization’s project portfolio. 

Director of Theatre Lormarev Jones is officially certified in Intimacy Direction for Live Performance with Intimacy Directors and Coordinators (IDC Professionals). This certification is due, in part, to funds she received from a Scholarly Productivity Grant last year.

Assistant Director for Disability Services Carolyn Koning and Molly Hull, ’16, accessibility coordinator at the North Carolina Museum of Art and independent consultant, presented on March 1 at the North Carolina AHEAD (Association on Higher Education And Disability) Spring Drive-In Conference in Graham, N.C. at Alamance Community College. They shared about the accessibility work happening at Meredith, the intentional partnership with DEI Coordinator Liliana Madrid, and an overview of the Advancing Accessibility Workshop Series in which Meredith faculty and staff are currently participating.

Assistant Professor of English Zach Linge’s debut manuscript of poems was selected as a finalist for Changes Press’s Bergman Prize, judged by Nobel Prize-winner Louise Glück. The Bergman Prize is one of the largest prizes available for a first book of poetry, and Linge’s manuscript was one of only fourteen finalists selected from a pool of over 1,200 submissions.

Associate Professor of Communication Lynn Owens led the session “Finding Your Broadcast Presence” at the Radio Television Digital News Association student workshop in Charlotte on February 25.

Professor of Economics Anne York did a live interview on WRAL’s  7 p.m. news on February 1, 2023, on the topic of the latest meeting of the Federal Reserve and the impact of their decision to raise interest rates on the economy. Watch the segment on York was also quoted in the article “What three economists say Raleigh CEOs should take away from latest inflation report” in the February 24 edition of the Triangle Business Journal.
