After a year of celebration, the Meredith College community has two more opportunities to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the granting of the College’s charter.
Share Your Wishes for Meredith’s Future
Want to be part of Meredith’s 125th anniversary time capsule? The Meredith community has a fun opportunity to share its wishes, hopes, and predictions for the College’s future at a special event on Friday, February 24 from 10 a.m. – noon.
A photo booth will be in Cate Center, where you can take pictures and record messages that will be added to the time capsule. Participants will get their own photos to take home. Refreshments, including a popcorn bar with a variety of toppings, will also be available.
The photo booth is open to the Meredith community, including students, faculty, and staff. Groups, representatives of campus organizations, and individuals are encouraged to take part.
Founders’ Day Celebration
On Founders’ Day, Monday, February 27, a closing celebration will be held at 10 a.m. This event will feature the presentation of the 125th anniversary time capsule, the unveiling of a new Thomas Meredith marker, and remarks from President Jo Allen. A reception will follow in the Johnson Hall Rotunda.
The College observed its 125th anniversary in February 2016 with a series of special events. This weeklong celebration included a 125th anniversary convocation address about Thomas Meredith presented by Professor Emeritus Roger Crook. Other highlights were a Meredith College exhibit at The City of Raleigh Museum, a poetry contest, and the unveiling of a new historical marker and a new Meredith flag. Meredith also held its first 24 Hour Giving Day. The week ended with the announcement of the goal for Beyond Strong | The Campaign for Meredith.
