Celebrating the Joy of Corn

This year’s Corn, held on November 7, 2025, brought renewed enthusiasm throughout Corn Week, and culminated in a beautiful evening with strong performances from each class. The weather was perfect, and the Main Event showcased the spirit and creativity that make Meredith so special!

Competition was lively and good-natured, and all classes celebrated meaningful recognition in various categories, with an impressive Spirit win by CO2028 (congrats, Sophomores!), and the Seniors dominating in multiple categories, earning a well-deserved overall win. The MRA Angel Awards were fun superlatives that leaned into each Class’s unique theme and spirit:

FRESHMEN

  • Theme: “Gettin’ Groovy With It (70’s Theme)”
  • Angel Award: “The Stayin’ Alive award – for making it to the finish line and navigating their first Corn and semester in a groovy way!”

SOPHOMORES:

  • Theme: “MC Dreamhouse”
  • Angel Award: “The Ken-Enough award – for their confidence and main character energy!”

JUNIORS:

  • Theme: “Angels in Maroon (Alien Invasion/Men in Black Inspired)”
  • Angel Award: “Astro Unity Award – for their amazing teamwork and class unity during an alien invasion!”

SENIORS:

  • Theme: “Stranded on Iris Isle”
  • Angel Award: “The Castaway Champion award – for persevering through the storms and shipwreck with grace and elegance!”

The Corn Parade provided some memorable moments too, including gorgeous balloon rainbows that have always been a campus favorite, and a dance by the Education Department. During Corn Week, the President’s Raid and Senior Tunnel Reveal added an extra layer of excitement– especially when students arrived at the Massey House with musical instruments in hand! Dr. Sapp and Presidential Spouse Travis Tamerius were treated to an enthusiastic serenade featuring a trumpet and several kazoos, much to the delight of the crowd.

Some other highlights included the overwhelmingly positive unclaimed wristband release– new this year– in which alumnae and their families could enjoy the festivities from within the amphitheater (instead of other campus locations), an addition warmly received by the community. Individual Class service projects also shone this year, resulting in over 3,234.7 collective service hours. The 2nd Annual Employee Chili Cook-Off during Can Art provided a fun (and tasty!) addition to the Theme Reveal, and set the stage for the wacky corn fun that was to follow throughout the week. And a special thanks to the staff and faculty who voted in the Can Art Popular Vote Google Form, and A VERY SPECIAL THANKS to all the staff, faculty, and alumnae who volunteered to help make Corn a success!

Corn 2025 was truly a celebration of creativity, community, and tradition. Thank you to everyone– students, staff, alumnae, and friends– who helped bring this beloved Meredith tradition to life once again!
