1891 Club, SLS Hold End of Semester Events for Students

At the end of the fall 2021 semester, Meredith’s 1891 Club and the Office of Student Leadership and Service (SLS) were among those who held special events for students.
Approximately 150 students who are members of the 1891 Club were invited to stop by the Alumnae House on December 1 to celebrate the last day of fall classes. Students who stopped by received a coffee mug with the Meredith Lux and took a to-go hot chocolate or coffee from the Alumnae Association.
“I enjoyed getting to talk to several students, some of whom were finishing up their first semester of college,” said Hannah Kicklighter, ‘19, assistant director of alumnae relations. “I am grateful to have had the opportunity to arrange events through the 1891 Club and the Alumnae Association for students this semester in a safe, but fun capacity. As a recent graduate, I remember the impact that events like this one have on the students to make their experience on campus special.”
On Reading Day, SLS sponsored Paint and Pop outside Cate Center to provide a break as students prepare for exams.
At the event, students could paint a craft and pick up fun snacks like popcorn, lollipops, ring pops, soda pop, and other fun “pop-themed” items.
These are just two examples of events and special services, such as Carlyle Campbell Library staying open 24-hours a day during the end of the semester, that helped students celebrate the end of the semester and prepare for exams.
