Data Derby Competition 2025 – Information Session

Data Derby Competition
SportsMEDIA Technology Corporation is excited to partner with the Cooperating Raleigh Colleges for the inaugural SMT Data Derby! This Data Derby provides REAL BASEBALL PLAYER TRACKING DATA to students for a weekend-long contest. It prompts the students to analyze the data and present their findings before a panel of distinguished judges, including players, coaches, analysts, and MLB team executives. It provides them with valuable hands-on learning experiences, helps organizations solve real-world problems, and contributes to advancing data science techniques. Programming or SQL knowledge is helpful but optional to win.

Any openly available tool or application is allowed, including:
– Spreadsheets
– Statistical Packages
– Common Programming Languages (such as Java, Python, and SQL)
– Visualization tools (such as Tableau and SAP) packages
– Common Office Productivity Tools (such as Microsoft Office Suite)

We are hosting a recruiting event at 4 PM on October 9th in SMB162. Join us as a team to compete in solving specific data-related problems using data analytic techniques and analysis.
