With classic brick buildings situated on 225 acres of lush, park-like grounds, there is an abundance of beauty on Meredith’s campus. In this post, we’re highlighting a few of the picture-perfect spots. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or returning to campus, you’ll be sure to find the best spot for your picture.
The Meredith Lake is a scenic space for students to unwind and enjoy the great outdoors. The recently renovated lake features plenty of charming spots to take photos with your friends and family, including some bridges, a gazebo, and an island with a beautiful bronze sculpture of a girl dancing with birds.
Located in front of Johnson Hall, the Elizabeth Triplett Beam Fountain Plaza is a classic spot for photos. The circular brick fountain features the College’s seal (known as the Lux) and makes a great option for FDOC or Commencement pictures.
Fun Fact: The “steps” in the fountain were made from the original marble steps that led up to the entrance of Johnson Hall, but please resist the understandable urge to climb on them – they can be slippery!
Named after Fannie E.S. Heck, a social activist and writer who was a benefactor of Meredith, Heck Fountain is located in the center of Meredith’s main courtyard. Surrounded by historic brick buildings, expansive lawns, and beautiful trees, you’ll have plenty of options to get the perfect shot.
The lobby of the Communication and Health, Exercise & Sports Science academic building has a water wall with the Lux and a fire feature that pays tribute to the fire and water ceremony first-year students attend each year. Not only is it a beautiful spot, but the lighting is great for photos too.
Recently renovated, Jones Chapel offers a graceful setting for pictures with its white columns and classic architecture.
