At Meredith, we know the classroom isn’t the only place to learn–that’s why 92% of our students participate in some form of experiential learning. That includes studying abroad which is a great way to expand your horizons, learn about a different culture, practice a foreign language, and become a more confident traveler.
Meredith is especially proud to provide our signature study abroad program, Meredith in Italy. For 15 years, we have offered students a permanent location, the Palazzo Alberti, to study, live, and immerse themselves in beautiful Sansepolcro. Because of the College’s long ties to the medieval town, the local community welcomes our students, making it a unique experience. Fall and spring semesters, spring break, and summer options are available.
You will live and study with other Meredith program students and faculty in the beautiful 16th-century Palazzo Alberti.
In a semester program, you can completely fulfill the foreign language general education requirement while studying abroad. The program offers a full semester of general education credits taught by local Italian experts, along with special discipline-specific courses taught by rotating Meredith Faculty in Residence.
Associate Director of Meredith in Italy Sara Andreini, the program’s onsite coordinator and a Sansepolcro native, teaches an Italy Today course that covers politics, history, and modern life of Italy. In this course, students also participate in a service project with the local community.
Shorter programs offer one to two courses that fulfill general education requirements.
As part of the semester program, you will complete a one-credit “Learn to Travel/Travel to Learn” course to become a confident international traveler. The program also includes group excursions and built-in independent travel breaks, where you may apply your skills and explore Italy or other countries in Europe.
