Springtime at Meredith reflects new beginnings and possibilities for both our graduating students and our incoming class. With our lush, park-like grounds coming into bloom, it’s the perfect season to capture special moments in your Meredith journey.
In today’s blog, we’re highlighting the most scenic spots on campus. Whether you’re taking graduation photos or snapping a picture to celebrate your acceptance to Meredith, you’re sure to find the perfect backdrop.
#1 Meredith LakeMeredith Lake is a scenic space for students to unwind and enjoy the great outdoors. The lake features plenty of charming spots to take photos with your friends and family, including some bridges and an island with a beautiful bronze sculpture of a girl dancing with birds.
#2 Elizabeth Triplett Beam FountainLocated in front of Johnson Hall, the Elizabeth Triplett Beam Fountain Plaza is a classic spot for photos. The circular brick fountain features the College’s seal (known as the Lux) and makes a great option for FDOC or Commencement pictures.
Fun Fact: The “steps” in the fountain were made from the original marble steps that led up to the entrance of Johnson Hall, but please resist the understandable urge to climb on them – they can be slippery!
#3 Heck Fountain Named after Fannie E.S. Heck, a social activist and writer who was a benefactor of Meredith, Heck Fountain is located in the center of Meredith’s main courtyard. Surrounded by historic brick buildings, expansive lawns, and beautiful trees, you’ll have plenty of options to get the perfect shot.
#4 Onyx ring statueDriving down Main Campus Drive, you’ll see the Onyx ring statue, funded by donors including Balfour, the company that supplies our rings. The Meredith College Class Ring symbolizes the bond between Meredith students and alumnae, as well as their academic accomplishments. Pose with your Onyx ring to show your Meredith pride!
#5 Jones ChapelRecently renovated, Jones Chapel offers a graceful setting for pictures with its white columns and classic architecture.
