National Women’s Colleges and Universities Day

Student at a desk

March 5 is National Women’s Colleges and Universities Day, recognizing the role of women’s colleges and universities in advancing postsecondary education for underserved populations and creating unique educational opportunities for women.

For 135 years, Meredith College has educated and empowered women to live with integrity and provide leadership for the needs, opportunities, and challenges of society. With an education from a women’s college, you are more likely to

  • Become a confident and effective leader and collaborator.
  • Develop strong presentation and writing skills.
  • Excel in internships and research opportunities.
  • Succeed in your first job and advance in your career.

You’ll also join a supportive community where your voice is heard, your perspective matters, and your potential is taken seriously. Hear what recent Meredith alumnae have to say about their experience attending a women’s college.

“Meredith provided me with opportunities to excel, be a leader, speak in front of groups of many sizes, study abroad, and apply and get into one of the top graduate schools in the nation. I learned that I am truly capable of doing anything I set my mind to.”

Lindsey Norris, ’20, Social Work

“While at Meredith, I was able to learn and grow, and that helped me discover my strengths and be confident in myself.”

Alyshena Case, ’24, Biology

“I chose Meredith because of the feelings of inspiration and empowerment I experienced when I attended a Leadership Conference for High School Juniors. During my college search, I kept searching for those feelings. At the time, I was surprised Meredith was the only place I found them. As a student, I realized those feelings were also sparked by the sense of belonging and validation for the first time. My experiences at Meredith were rooted in the abundant amount of resources available in our community, each catered to the success of every individual.”

Jillian Jackson, ’25, Business Administration

“My relationships on campus made me more confident to speak up, able to voice my opinion, and generally made me more comfortable to apply myself outside of the classroom. I am more confident, well-spoken, and outgoing compared to when I came in.”

Wynter Henderson, ’25, Psychology
